Just How the Hell did Microsoft Pull that off again?microsoft-HOLOLENS? What’s that?

Just a few hours after I was asking myself where Google Glass went, a new reality was borne in Seattle. I’ll spare you the drama: the good guys won.

First, some context: Microsoft haven’t released an exciting product in nearly fifteen years, and had become world-renowned one of the best technology companies in the world that actually never pose a threat to invent or create a revolutionary product. Don’t get me wrong, even early works were traced to be copies of the Apple’s Macintoch. Microsoft is in my opinion, the best technology company, but not as good as real perennial invention challengers like Apple or Samsung. It is the feeblest of the giant inventors and that is fine. Microsoft’s problem though is a matter of hubris, of not coming up with revolutionary technologies like touch technology that inevitably becomes the platform for future tech adventures. At Microsoft, people are geek, and skill-laden.

Yesterday, though, Microsoft showed the world that it finally conceded it would be outperformed for centuries, and the only way to win was to invent and not copy what others have done. They launched an incredible new product and they beat critics, and it was pure ecstasy to watch. Microsoft envisioned a world where technology could become more personal—where it could adapt to the natural ways we communicate, learn, and create, where our digital lives would seamlessly connect with real life.

The result is the world’s most advanced holographic computing platform, enabled by Windows 10. For the first time ever, Microsoft HoloLens brings high-definition holograms to life in your world, where they integrate with your physical places, spaces, and things.

Holograms will improve the way you do things every day, and enable you to do things you’ve never done before.

In all likelihood, skepticism will force some to repel this amazing tech, but in the entire world, how come wouldn’t you want to enjoy the following aspects of the Hololens?

Empowering you to achieve more:

Microsoft HoloLens puts you at the center of a world that blends holograms with reality. With the ability to design and shape holograms, you’ll have a new medium to express your creativity, a more efficient way to teach and learn, and a more effective way to visualize your work and share ideas. Your digital content and creations will be more relevant when they come to life in the world around you.

Go beyond the screen:

As holograms, your digital content will be as real as physical objects in the room. For the first time, holograms will become practical tools of daily life.

Shape holograms to fine-tune a design. Interact with them to learn something new. When you share your ideas, show and tell from multiple perspectives. Microsoft HoloLens enables you to make decisions more confidently, work more effectively, and bring your ideas to life right before your eyes.

A New Reality:

Microsoft HoloLens goes beyond augmented reality and virtual reality by enabling you to interact with three-dimensional holograms blended with your real world. Microsoft HoloLens is more than a simple heads-up display, and its transparency means you never lose sight of the world around you. High-definition holograms integrated with your real world will unlock all-new ways to create, communicate, work, and play.

Your world as a canvas

Microsoft HoloLens intelligently maps the room you’re in, blending holograms with the environment around you. Pin holograms to physical locations you choose so that your room becomes the canvas for your holographic projects and games. With Microsoft HoloLens, you can interact with holograms and everyday objects together.

New ways to collaborate and explore.

Go somewhere you’ve never been and get to know it from every angle. See holograms from your colleague’s perspective if he’s in the next room or on the other side of the world. Explore a new dimension that is grounded in, but not limited to, the physical world.

New ways to create what you imagine.

See your imagination come to life as a hologram. Effortlessly create your own holograms and share them with others. Use holograms to visualize how something will look in the physical world whether it’s a new piece of furniture in your home, a toy for your kids, or a new creation for work. HoloStudio will even let you turn your holograms into physical objects with 3D print compatibility.

Explore places you’ve never been

Scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will soon be exploring Mars using holograms of Mars Rover images. They will work as if they can walk on the surface of Mars, an experience previously impossible. As a result, they will be able to learn at a faster pace than ever before.

A new way to see your world.

Holograms are the next evolution in computing. With this vision in mind, hardware, software, and user design engineers came together to create a new canvas for creators and developers. Microsoft HoloLens, together with Windows 10, introduces a powerful new holographic platform. The era of holographic computing is here

Microsoft just gave me a reason for a cautious optimism. Technology will never stop to evolve. We’re just seeing the start of a new era of creations and adventures, much like when the touch tech was introduced at the end of 20th century.

What if industries will never be exhaustive as pessimists often mislead themselves? Just think for a second; imagine if you could drive using your hololens to scan a the road before starting the trip, set the speed and just sleep in the back seat since your would have drove the car before hands. I Consider Being Gay Among the Greatest Gifts God Has Given Me.

Tim cook is the current CEO of Apple

Tim cook is the current CEO of Apple

The current CEO of Apple inc, famous for its iphones and touch technologies, has told Bloomberg Business Week that being gay has given him an opportunity to understand the challenges that people in other minorities face every day. It has helped him to living a life full of empathy, which has led to a richer life. “It’s been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry. It’s also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy when you’re the CEO of Apple.” He said.

Speaking about the word “gay”, he has mentioned that it has changed so much since when he was a little boy.  America didn’t disappoint, it has also changed the way it perceives the word. Today, America is passing laws across the states that equalize marriage, and one should mention that stars, political figures, and other public figures that have come out lionhearted have helped to alter the way people’s perceptions of gays and made the culture more tolerant. Cook also mentioned that just people are still fired, others evicted from their apartments, denied to visit visitors just because there are laws on the books in a majority of states that allow to do so based on their sexual orientation.

Team cook said, ‘“I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I’ve benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy.”’

While things seem to take a whole new level in the United States, let’s not forget that closer to home, in Uganda, a law against gay rights was signed by his excellence President Museveni a year ago. Few will deny that this has something to do with the culture, but if you look back it never was easy in the United States too. Cook admits that this wasn’t an easy choice especially because privacy remains important to him. He is emphasized that this won’t stop him from striving to become the best CEO he can be. He also gave credit to social progress that now understands that a person is not defined only by one’s sexuality, race, or gender.

“I’m an engineer, an uncle, a nature lover, a fitness nut, a son of the South, a sports fanatic, and many other things.” He said.

He hopes that people will continue to respect his desire to focus on things that interest him the most. Apple has long advocated for human rights and equality for all and that includes gay rights. Apple has strongly supported the workplace equality bill before Congress, and has done so for marriage equality in the state of California.

IT’S NO LONGER A DREAM!! INTERNET IS FREE IN TANZANIA

Mark Zuckerberg Post on Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg Post on Facebook

In a post decorated with excitement, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Inc’s Founder just announced via Facebook that they have just launched an internet.org app in Tanzania. “We just launched the Internet.org app in Tanzania, providing free data access to a set of basic internet services.” He Said.

As he stated, Tanzanian citizens can now use the internet for free to run job searches and posting jobs. They also can access health resources and use services like Facebook and BBC News to stay connected and informed. This is a turning point in the internet era. It obviously marks the start of free internet to all.

This same app had been introduced in Zambia, and its socio-economic impact was inspiring.

Here are a few things that can be accessed for free:

  • Healthcare: For example, an expectant mother using the internet to prepare for her pregnancy.
  • Education: A student using Wikipedia to study for her exams. A man living far from the library being able to download books online.
  • Social website: Facebook
  • News: BBC

Facebook keeps moving towards its goal of connecting every single one of us humans. In a post on Facebook, Zuckerberg said, “When people are connected, we can achieve extraordinary things. Today is another small step on our path to connecting the world and making the opportunities of the internet available to everyone.”

HOW THE INSIDE OF A $3.4 MILLION CAR FEELS LIKE

FIRST ARAB SUPER CAR WITH LED HEADLIGHTS

FIRST ARAB SUPER CAR WITH LED HEADLIGHTS

Bill Gates once said, “If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 MPG.” Well, Bill Gates was not disappointed. Arab Super Car makers were listening.

Imagine that you are kidnapped, wrapped up in a cloth bag, and you work inside an Arab super car. You won’t believe you are inside a man made machine; it looks like absolute fiction when you take a glimpse look at the inside of the first Arab Super Car.

A few years ago, at the Dubai Motor Show , Lebanon’s W Motors gave the spectators  the best look so far at what its supercar will look like when it hits the road.

Now that it has already arrived on the road, and occasionally driven around by Middle Eastern playboys in the streets of London, it is billed as the first Arab supercar, the LykanHypersport comes with a staggering $3.4 million price tag, offering 750 brake horsepower, 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 240 mph. It is also covered in jewels: The LED headlights are encrusted with diamonds, and the leather interiors feature gold stitching. Along with the car, buyers get a Special Edition Cyrus Klepcys Watch worth over $200,000.

But how does the inside really looks like?

It is an absolute beauty; the display system uses interactive holographs and the wealthy owners of the hyper sport will be able to adjust radio volume via a holograph. That is the first in the auto industry.

Round I Winners of Power African Innovative Project Were Awarded $600,000 in Grants

Humans are naturally in position to favor competition. The key is triggering that competition spirit. USADF, United States Africa Development Foundation, is doing just that. Recently, 22 innovators from six African countries have emerged as winners of the second round of the Power Africa Off-Grid Energy Challenge sponsored by General Electric (GE), (USADF) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). As reported, they will receive a grant of $100,000 each for kick starting off-grid solutions that deploy renewable resources and contribute to powering socio-economic activities.

In November of 2013, six winners from Nigeria and Kenya were awarded six grants totaling $ 600,000. This year, the program has been expanded to include Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana and Liberia. Organizers received about 300 applications from the six countries. Speaking about the awards, Jay Ireland GE Africa President & CEO said, “we are impressed by the response to our call for entries and more so with the caliber of entries especially from the countries that are participating for the first time. This once again demonstrates that with the right support, the people of Africa can develop home-grown solutions for themselves.”

What is Power Africa?

Power Africa is a broad U.S. Government initiative to drive growth by increasing access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable power and helping to ensure responsible, transparent and effective management of energy resources.  Working with public and private sector partners, this initiative will achieve these results: Increasing electricity generation; Increasing electricity access — with a focus on both on-grid and off-grid or micro-grid solutions; Increasing cross border energy trade; and, ensuring responsible and transparent management of energy resources

Initial countries targeted include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia.

USADF believes its greatest contribution to Power Africa is in increasing electricity access to underserved communities in the target countries.  To achieve that end it launched an off-grid energy challenge to promote innovative and sustainable ways to deliver energy to underserved communities.

The USADF Off-Grid Energy Challenge

US African Development Foundation partnered with GE Africa to promote innovative solutions that develop, scale-up or extend the use of proven technologies for off-grid energy – reaching communities not served by existing power grids.  This $2.4 million challenge will award grants of up $100,000 each to African companies and organizations providing off-grid solutions that deploy renewable resources and power local economic activities.  Challenge winners will have near-term solutions to the power needs of productive and commercial activities, including agriculture production and processing, off-farm businesses, and commercial enterprises.
